The government is backing several projects to encourage people to broaden their knowledge. There will be 47 local Learning and Skills Councils throughout England and they will work in partnership with colleges, training providers, employers, local educational authorities and 

others to break down barriers to education and training, and re-establish learning as a ladder of opportunity. Here are some of the schemes currently available;-
